60L electric kiln available for carefully managed bisque and stoneware glaze firings.
All work is loaded, programmed and unloaded by the studio.
1. Prices Bisque firing: £85 full kiln / £50 half kiln / small batch from £20
Stoneware glaze firing: £90 full kiln / £55 half kiln / small batch from £25
Custom temperatures or firing schedules are quoted separately and may require full kiln hire.
2. Standard firing temperatures - Bisque: approx. 1000°C Stoneware glaze: approx. 1220–1240°C / Cone 6 Other temperatures by prior agreement only.
3. Materials - All clay and glazes must have a clear firing range. Please send a photo or link of your clay and glaze before booking. No unknown clay, air-dry clay, polymer clay, wild clay, lustres, decals, raku, crystalline, volcanic or very runny glazes unless agreed in advance.
4. Glazed work - Glazed pieces must have a clean unglazed base or foot ring with at least 5mm clearance. Cookies may be required for unfamiliar or runny glazes. I reserve the right to refuse any work that may risk damaging the kiln or shelves.
5. Drop-off, collection and storage - Drop-off and collection by appointment only. Standard turnaround is usually 10–14 days depending on the firing schedule. Finished work can be stored free of charge for 14 days after collection notification. After this, storage is charged at £5/day. Work left uncollected for more than 30 days may be considered abandoned.
6. Payment and liability - Payment is required before firing. All work is fired at the maker’s own risk. I cannot accept responsibility for cracking, warping, bloating, glaze faults, colour variation or breakage during firing. Any damage to shelves, bricks, elements or kiln furniture caused by unsuitable clay, glaze running or poorly prepared work will be charged to the maker.
